While AI tools of all sorts open up a world of access to new skill sets, creativity, and creation that we have not seen or experienced before – one can only leverage the true power of AI if you know how to ask the right questions. Harvard Business Review adds that having a digital mindset is essential for participating in this world and that change management is going to become a most critical skill.
I believe critical thinking and in-depth knowledge of professions of all sorts too are going to be the key parameters that will help set you apart in this world of AI tools. You need creative concepts and designs done? You still need to know about compositions, angles, perspectives, color combinations and contrasts, emotive designs and much more. Want to create content for a multi-channel marketing campaign activation? You will still need to know what makes a good piece of content, which type of content works well on what channel, industry knowledge on how your audience is consuming content and where, how it fits into your buyer’s journey, and so much more. Thinking of creating a video series on your favorite topic? You still need to understand and know the fundamentals of video framing, editing techniques, pace, sequences, storytelling, etc.
AI tools are helping us to ‘do more with less’ but I would argue that in order to be able to differentiate yourself and your business in this world, you need to be really great at asking the right questions.

How to Get Started Using AI for Marketeers Today
The technological progress of AI is exponential and accelerating, meaning we have to start applying the technology yesterday. If you leave the training and usage of AI tools up to others, then a) they will be first in line at the job market and you will most likely be left somewhere else, and b) if you are not already automating, you will be the one being automated – get ahead of the curve by mapping out your processes and choose which to delete, delegate, or automate, c) understand that the cost of creating digital goods is trending near zero, so your value add will most likely be defined by your network, personal brand, and expertise knowledge in your field, and d) the AI technology will be trained by people not representative of you. We cannot have that. We need AI to understand the full scope of humankind, not just small fractions of it.
If you haven’t started learning how to ask the right questions yet, now is actually a great time to start! There are several resources and courses available (I myself have had some fun learning experiences on Coursiv, but Coursera and Udemy also offer up thousands of learning options. And Harvard Business School even offers a 4-weeks online course on AI Essentials for Businesses.)
Should you be more in the market for a quick fix for direct application here and now, the market for selling prompts is booming! Here’s a list made by Hix.ai of 10 of the best marketplaces for prompts in 2024.
10 Marketing Enhancing AI Tools
While I, as so many others, are still in the early exploring phase of AI tools for marketing professionals, I have come across and/or tested out the following list of AI tools for us marketing folk:
- ChatGPT: Serves as an AI-powered conversational assistant, helping users with information, problem-solving, creative tasks, and productivity across various domains. For example, this website you are looking at, the structure, design colors, text, descriptions, etc. this was all done in ~30min with ChatGPT. One website, half an hour. Done.
- Copy.ai: Serves as an AI-powered tool designed to help users generate high-quality marketing copy, content ideas, and writing drafts quickly and efficiently. I’ve used it for generating customer case studies from a webinar transcript, blogs, social posts, etc.
- MidJourney: Serves as an AI-powered platform that generates detailed and imaginative visual art from text prompts, catering to creative projects and design inspiration.
- Jasper.ai: Serves as an AI content creation platform designed to help businesses and individuals generate high-quality, tailored text for marketing, blogging, and creative projects. What Jasper.ai gets right is the tonality of a brand – you don’t lose your brand voice to AI when using Jasper.ai, in my experience.
- DALL-E: Serves as an AI model that creates unique and high-quality images from detailed text prompts, enabling creative design and visualization across various fields. DALL-E is also fully integrated into ChatGPT 4.0, so you can combine the forces from the two directly.
- Openart.ai: Serves as an AI-powered platform that enables users to create, explore, and share digital art by generating high-quality images from text prompts or user-uploaded styles, with applications ranging from marketing and game design to personal artistic exploration
- OpusClip: Serves as an AI-powered tool designed to transform long-form video content, such as webinars, podcasts, and educational sessions, into engaging short clips optimized for social media platforms.
- SlidesGPT: Serves as an AI-powered tool designed to quickly generate presentations WITH SCRIPTS by transforming text-based prompts or documents into polished slides. I love building and creating presentations, but I am also a person whose soul dies a little every time I see a white slide with black Sans Serif font on, and nothing else. Please use this if you don’t enjoy building slides like I do 🙂
- Beautiful.ai: Serves as a presentation design tool that automates the creation of visually stunning, consistent, and professional slides, enabling users to build engaging presentations without needing strong design skills. Please make your stories beautiful. It would make your marketing human so happy!
- Podcastle: Serves as an AI-powered platform designed to simplify podcast creation and editing by providing tools for recording, transcription, multitrack editing, and audio enhancement, making it ideal for marketers who want to produce professional-quality audio content quickly.
I’ll keep adding as I come across more, so come back from time to time to check up on the list!
Extra AI tools:
- TryMaverick: Serves as an AI tool that analyzes your emails and generate automated A/B testing and automated performance optimization of your email sends.
It is clear that the rise of AI tools offers incredible opportunities for marketers, but the key to truly benefiting from them lies in understanding how to leverage these technologies effectively. As the landscape continues to evolve, I believe that those who invest in developing critical thinking skills, industry expertise and understand the powers of change management in a digital world will be the ones who stand out. Knowing how to ask the right questions, rather than relying solely on AI’s capabilities, will be what differentiates you in an increasingly automated world.
The time to start learning and experimenting is now. Don’t wait, get started today, and embrace the power of AI to enhance your marketing strategies and unlock new creative possibilities!
